Hazardous Household Waste (HHW) is post-consumer waste that poses a threat to public health and the environment. This category includes paint, paint cans, batteries, aerosol cans, medication, vehicle batteries, fluorescent tubes, compact fluorescent bulbs, spent propane canisters, chemicals, and electronic products (e-waste).

Temporary drop-off points are set up across the island of Montreal from April to October and open to all residents of the Montreal agglomeration. This year, the annual drop-off in Montreal West will take place at Public Works (250 Bedbrook) on Sunday, May 25, 2025, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Public Works cannot accept these items on any other day of the year. To drop-off items any other day, please go to one of Montreal’s Ecocentres.
The Town has an Electrobac in the entrance of the John A. Simms Community Centre located at 8 Westminster Ave. South to offer you a convenient location to recycle your old, small, electronics.
The Electrobac accepts a wide variety of small electronic devices including cell phones, cameras, MP3 players, ink cartridges, peripherals, headphones and chargers among many others. To see a complete list of recyclable items, visit www.electrobac.com.
Household hazardous waste collection is available only to individuals living on the island of Montreal. Contractors and industries must deal with private firms specialized in the recovery of hazardous waste.
