A defibrillator – or AED – is a small device that’s simple to use and could save a life. Anyone can use one. Just turn it on and a voice will tell you what you need to do, step by step. It will only deliver a shock if the person needs it, so it is safe to use.

If a person collapses and does not respond when you touch or speak to them, they could be experiencing cardiac arrest. If so, they need to be tended to quickly and a defibrillator may save their life.

Defibrillators / AEDs

There are defibrillators located around the town and can be found in the following places:

  • Town Hall at the main entrance (50 Westminster ave S.)
  • Davies Chalet (Strathearn ave)
  • Public Works building (250 Bedbrooke ave)
  • In the Public Security vehicle 514-630-1234
  • Community Centre in the main office (8 Westminster ave S.)

Steps to follow

If ever you are in a situation where you think someone may be having a heart attack:

  1. Call 911 and shout out for an AED
  2. Push hard and fast in the centre of their chest to the beat of “Staying Alive” by the Bee Gees
  3. Use the defibrillator as soon as you get access to it

This is what to look for
