The Town of Montreal West, being a public body, is subject to the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information.  It has twenty (20) days to answer a request for access to information. However, in some cases, this delay may be extended up to 30 days. The scope of the law in regards to such requests, is to deal with existing documents. It is not to answer general requests for information that would entail that a document be created.

The right of access to documents applies to all documents held by the public body. However, certain restrictions may apply with respect to the protection of personal information, impacts on public security, administrative or political decisions, and documents which were supplied by a third party.

A request for access to a document must clearly indicate the nature and object of the request. You may submit a written request, through the following form.

For more information, please consult the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec website (only available in French).
