In the case of major infrastructure work, residents in the affected area will be informed by mail.

PLANNED TRAFFIC OBSTRUCTION ON WESTMINSTER SOUTH

Three lanes on Westminster South (from Avon until 39 Westminster South) will be occupied by The Easton development project.

Work dates (weather permitting):

  • March 27-31 (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

Access in both directions will be maintained intermittently on the remaining lane and will be controlled by flagmen. Signage will help ensure a secure traffic flow.

REPLACEMENT OF THE TEMPORARY NORTH PLATFORM AT MONTREAL WEST STATION

Work dates: March 13 to July 31, 2023

As part of the ongoing construction work to improve safety at the Montreal West Station, exo will undertake the replacement and extension of the existing temporary platform, located north of the railroad tracks. This work will also allow for the redevelopment of all accesses to this platform.

Construction Schedule*

  • Schedule: weekdays, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Work blocks: Weekends of March 18-19 and April 1-2, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

*Exceptionally, if the situation requires it, the work may continue beyond the scheduled days.

Possible inconveniences

Although every effort will be made to minimize the impact of this work on the quality of life of local residents, certain inconveniences are expected, such as: noise from generators and construction machinery, light vibrations, dust, truck traffic and back-up warnings.

SAINT-PIERRE INTERCHANGE REPAIRS

The ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable wishes to inform road users that the repair work on the Saint-Pierre interchange will resume as of March 24, 2023, following its interruption for the winter period. Several major closures will be required in the evening, at night, or on weekends, in addition to partial closures of long duration. The repair work will continue until late fall.

WATER CLOSURE NOTICE

Work date: March 8, 2023

Public Works must carry out emergency repairs to a water main break on Nelson (between Percival and Wolseley).

Water will be turned off in the area for the duration of the work. We will repair the problem as quickly as possible.

The Easton project will occupy one lane on Avon Road on Friday, February 10 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a delivery.

NOTIFICATION OF AQUEDUCT WORK

Work date: Wednesday, November 23, 2022

A notice was distributed to residents in the affected sector (North part of Town).

The City of Côte Saint-Luc will conduct emergency repair work on an aqueduct pipe that will affect the Montreal West water network in the North part of Town (from Cote Saint Luc Road to the tracks).

It is possible that your water may be colored, do not be alarmed. Leave the cold water taps running for a few minutes; this will clear up the water. Please ensure you do this prior to doing any laundry.

Furthermore, you should not drink water from the faucet for 48 hours following the date of the work. During this period, use boiled (for 1 minute) or bottled water to drink, brush your teeth, make ice and to prepare and cook food.

REMOVAL OF TEMPORARY RETAINING WALLS AT MONTREAL WEST STATION

Work dates: October 31 to November 11, 2022

With the completion of the backfill work, exo will begin dismantling the temporary retaining walls erected as part of the safety improvement project at the Montreal-West Station.

  • Work will begin at the end of October and will last approximately 10 days
  • Schedule: weekdays, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

*Exceptionally, if the situation requires it, the work may continue beyond the scheduled days.

Possible inconveniences

Although every effort will be made to minimize the impact of this work on the quality of life of local residents, certain inconveniances are expected, such as: noise from machinery, vibrations, dust, truck traffic and back-up warning devices.

The contractor will ensure that daily vibration readings are taken to ensure that regulatory limits are respected at all times.

CORRECTIVE WORK ON FENWICK CROSSING

October 11 to 12

Corrective levelling and paving work will take place on Fenwick on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 11 and 12.

Parking on the street will not be allowed during the work. Fenwick residents will be able to park on nearby streets for the duration of the work.

A notice has been delivered to affected residents.

OVERNIGHT WORK ON WESTMINSTER AT THE LEVEL CROSSING

October 6 to 7, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

CP will be conducting emergency work to replace a broken rail at the level crossing on Westminster Avenue. As such, access over the tracks at Westminster will be closed and a detour through Sherbrooke, Elmhurst and Broughton will be set up during the work.

The Town would like to inform its residents of a planned traffic obstruction on Avon Road at the corner of Westminster on October 5 starting at 11 a.m. and October 6 starting at 10 a.m.

The westbound lane will be occupied by The Easton development project. Flagmen and signage will be present to ensure a secure traffic flow.

We suggest that you plan your trips accordingly. Drivers should expect slowdowns.

DYE TRACING OF SEWER CONNECTIONS

The Town of Montreal West has mandated Salv-Eau to conduct dye-tracing tests of the sewer connections in the north sector during the week of July 18.

A notice with further instructions has been mailed to targeted households this week.


LOCALIZED RECONSTRUCTION OF SIDEWALKS ON WESTMINSTER AVENUE

Week of July 4 to July 15, 2022

The Town will be carrying out localized sidewalk repairs on Westminster between Curzon and Milner. The work is tentatively scheduled from July 4 to July 15, 2022 (weather permitting). These dates were strategically chosen to reduce impacts as school has now finished for the year.

The two sections targeted are adjacent to the former RBC bank (26 Westminster N) and the Montreal West United Church (88 Ballantyne N). See the map in the notice for more details.

Temporary signs will be in place to inform pedestrians and motorists of how to proceed around the work. Please respect all temporary traffic signs.

CLOSURE OF PROMENADE SHERATON AT THE CORNER OF CÔTE SAINT-LUC ROAD

Week of June 27 to week of July 18, 2022

The City of Montreal will carry out work on the water supply system in this area. As such, a complete closure of Sheraton is required for the duration of the work. A detour via Smart Avenue and Radcliffe Avenue is planned. Please respect all temporary traffic signs.

WATER MAIN FLUSHING

June 15, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The City of Montreal will carry out a water main flushing by manipulating valves and opening fire hydrants on Westover between Sunnybrooke and Westminster. There is a possibility of discoloured water in the Northern part of Montreal West during the work.

DRILLING WORK ON BROUGHTON ROAD

June 13 to 17, 2022

Geotechnical drilling work will take place on Broughton Road from June 13 to June 17, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Traffic will be affected in this sector during that time period.

Flagmen will be present and temporary signage will be set up to help with traffic flow. Please respect all temporary traffic signs.
