The Town of Montreal West is pleased to announce that it will receive an additional grant of $ 3,767,018.10 for the construction of the new Sports and Recreation Center. This brings the total financial assistance for this project to $16,323,745.10, covering nearly 42% of the total project costs.

The Quebec government will be adjusting the amounts allocated to selected projects under the PAFIRS program in order to support municipalities facing the consequences of rising inflation and a surge in the construction industry, as reflected in the bids received for recent infrastructure projects.

The Town would like to thank the provincial government for the additional financial support.

As they’ve been doing for the last few years, Montreal West Town Council, Town administration and MNA for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Désirée McGraw, will continue working tirelessly to secure the largest possible share of external funding to keep the impact on residents’ property taxes to a minimum.

Visit of our facilities

A visit of the existing facilities with Minister Isabelle Charest, Minister responsible for Sport, Recreation and Outdoors, was held on June 20, 2023. This visit with Mayor Beny Masella, MNA Désirée McGraw and Town administration allowed her to see the state of our arena and pool and better understand our need for a new accessible, multipurpose, and intergenerational facility. Several of our young athletes and residents were on hand to express their enthusiasm for the new center. We thank the Minister for accepting the invitation to come visit.
