Updated on April 6 at 8:55 p.m.: The Town is aware of the damages caused by the freezing rain and continues to monitor the situation closely. Our crew is working hard to clean up the damages in order to ensure the safety of our residents and restore the Town back to a normal state. Please note that there will be delays in processing requests as urgent situations will be prioritized.
The freezing rain and wind also affected some power lines and many areas of the town remain without power. Check the Hydro-Quebec website for an update on the power outages.
Stay safe
Town Hall will be open to the public until 8:00 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 7 for those who want to warm up and charge their devices
For public safety, it is crucial that people not approach power lines. If you see electrical wires on the ground, stay away and call 911 to have the area secured.
In addition, customers must absolutely not use outdoor equipment inside. Fuel-burning heaters, lights, generators or portable stoves designed for outdoor use, including barbecues, can cause asphyxiation or poisoning if used indoors.
Avoid calling 911 for non-urgent situations and only contact them for emergency situations where safety is threatened.
