The Town has commissioned the Agence de Mobilité durable de Montréal to conduct a comprehensive study of both on and off-street public parking. The goal of the study is to gain a better understanding of parking occupancy and usage patterns across the town.
The study will take place in two stages:
1. Street parking study
To assess street parking use, the study will use Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology. Vehicles marked by the Agence de Mobilité durable de Montréal’s logo and the words “Étude de mobilité ” will travel throughout the Town’s 19 km of streets between March 26 and April 18, 2025 to gather parking data. These vehicles will not issue tickets—their sole purpose is data collection.
2. Municipal parking lot study
To analyze parking use in the Town’s five municipal parking lots, counting cameras will be installed at the entrances of each lot to monitor vehicle flow from March 26 to April 18, 2025.
As a reminder, the municipal parking lots are:
- Behind Town Hall (50 Westminster South)
- At the corner of Percival and Milner
- At the corner of Strathearn and Milner
- On Westminster North, close to Curzon
- On Northview, close to Brock N.
Here are pictures of the vehicles and cameras that will be used to collect parking data.

Will information about my identity be collected?
ALPR technology uses cameras to take a photograph of the license plate on the back of a vehicle and convert it into data. It will not be possible to identify vehicle owners. No personal data will be collected by the Agency via these technological tools. All data is anonymized and will only be used to understand the use of on-street and off-street parking.
This study will help the Town make informed decisions and potential improvements to parking management on our territory. Residents with questions or concerns can contact Communications through the Contact Us form.
