The Town of Montreal West is calling on the public to reduce drinking water consumption this summer

For the past few days, the Town of Montreal West has been experiencing a sharp increase in the demand for drinking water, mainly due to the numerous outdoor uses and the current heat wave. This situation is contributing to a significant decrease in the Municipality’s drinking water reserves and is putting excessive pressure on its production infrastructures.

It should be noted that in the summer, in Quebec, drinking water consumption can double due to lawn watering and pool filling. In fact, last summer, during periods of high water consumption combined with a heat wave, several municipalities had to issue water use restriction notices.

Therefore, the Town of Montreal West is joining the awareness efforts of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing’s My Blue Footprint campaign and is asking for the cooperation of its citizens to reduce their drinking water consumption.
