September 23, 2024

Rail Safety Week is an annual event dedicated to raising crucial awareness about rail safety. It serves as a reminder to all Canadians that taking risks near train tracks can have life-altering consequences.

Along with partners EXO and CPKC, the Town is collaborating in rail safety awareness activities. From Tuesday, September 24 until Thursday, September 26, EXO representatives will be at the Montreal West train station in the morning and afternoon promoting rail safety and on  the morning of Thursday, September 26, representatives from CPKC will be stationed at Davies Park doing the same.

Please remember to stay alert, stand behind the yellow lines, and always respect the signage around train tracks. Stay safe!

Did you know that…

  • Every year in Canada and the USA, 2,100 people are gravely injured or killed near railways.
  • Venturing on the railway is illegal and subject to a $500 fine.
  • A breaking train can need up to 2 km before coming to a full stop.

For your safety, obey road signs at all times.
