Each year, the Town of Montreal West undertakes different infrastructure projects across Town. Here you will find a list of the major road work projects under way.

As with any large-scale project, there will be some inconvenience during the work and we appreciate your patience and understanding. We are convinced that the short-term inconvenience will be minimal compared to the long-term benefits.

Citizens’ responsibilities

  • For your safety, we urge you to follow worksite instructions (fences, barricades, etc.) and to respect all temporary detours and signage.
  • You must inform Public Works if you require direct access to your property during the work (moving, delivery or transportation, etc.).
  • Inquiries, comments or complaints must be communicated directly to the field supervisor or to the Public Works Department.

The Town of Montreal West will be rebuilding the infrastructure on Wolseley North (between Edinburgh and Radcliffe) this summer. It is anticipated that the project will commence the week of June 25th 2019.  Work will begin at the intersection of Wolseley N. and Radcliffe.

Project scope

  • Excavation and foundation work
  • Replacement of the storm and sanitary sewers
  • Replacement of the water main
  • Replacement of all service connections between the main pipe and the lot line
  • Replacement of the existing street foundation, pavement and sidewalks

Schedule

  • It is expected that the project will commence the week of June 25th, 2019. Temporary water lines will be installed and connected to all the affected homes. Excavation work will begin the following week.
  • The entire project is expected to be completed by early September.
  • During this time, affected sections of the street being worked on will be closed to traffic, especially during the day. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
  • Work will take place from Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Drinking water

  • A temporary aqueduct will be installed to provide potable water. Please avoid contact with the temporary water pipes to ensure service is not disrupted.

Project management

  • A Town-employed representative will be on the construction site at all times. The project will be supervised by engineering firm Avizo Experts Conseils Inc.
  • You can call or email Public Works during regular business hours (from Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) to be put in touch with the project supervisor.
  • If there is an exceptional emergency situation related to the construction project outside of the regular business hours, please contact Public Security Dispatch at (514) 630-1234 for assistance or 911 for emergency services.

  • Replacement of concrete sidewalks and asphalt street surface

  • It is expected that the project will commence the week of April 29th, 2019. Temporary water lines will be installed and connected to all the affected homes. Excavation work will begin the following week.
  • The entire project is expected to be completed by mid-September.
