Montreal West is proud to officially become a certified Monarch-friendly Town by the David Suzuki Foundation!
The monarch butterfly is a threatened species whose population has drastically declined over the past two decades. Our new certified monarch butterfly educational garden, located at Roy D. Locke Park, will join other gardens across North America to help this seriously endangered migratory insect.
Mayor Masella expressed enthusiasm for the municipality’s commitment: “Montreal West cares about preserving the environment for future generations, and this certification aligns with our sustainable development values.“
We invite you visit the garden on site, as well as learn more about the Monarch butterfly and what you can do to protect them here.
