With the heatwave expected to begin tomorrow and continue until Thursday, we would like to remind residents to stay safe and cool with these tips:
- Drink plenty of water before you feel thirsty.
- Spend a few hours each day in an air-conditioned or cool location.
- Take a shower or bath or cool yourself with a wet towel.
- Reduce your physical efforts.
- Wear light-colored clothing.
- Keep in touch with your family and friends.
- Close windows, curtains, and blinds when the sun is at its peak.
- Use heat-generating appliances (stove, oven, dryer, television, lights, etc.) as little as possible.
- Avoid consuming alcoholic, caffeinated, or very sugary drinks, as they can dehydrate you.
