Heat Wave Warning

With the heatwave expected to begin tomorrow and continue until Thursday, we would like to remind residents to stay safe and cool with these tips:

  • Drink plenty of water before you feel thirsty.
  • Spend a few hours each day in an air-conditioned or cool location.
  • Take a shower or bath or cool yourself with a wet towel.
  • Reduce your physical efforts.
  • Wear light-colored clothing.
  • Keep in touch with your family and friends.
  • Close windows, curtains, and blinds when the sun is at its peak.
  • Use heat-generating appliances (stove, oven, dryer, television, lights, etc.) as little as possible.
  • Avoid consuming alcoholic, caffeinated, or very sugary drinks, as they can dehydrate you.

 

Residents of all ages can use the splash pads, here are the schedules:

  • Davies Park: 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Strathearn Park: 7 a.m. – 10 p.m.
  • Rugby Park: 7 a.m. – 10 p.m.

 

The air-conditioned Music Room at Town Hall will be open to the public:

  • Tuesday: 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 12 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Thursday: 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
