Notice of railway maintenance work

Category : Administration
March 12, 2018

As part of our ongoing commitment to operating the safest railway in North America, beginning on March 12, 2018, Canadian Pacific (CP) will be performing routine track maintenance in the Montreal area on two subdivisions:

  • Westmount Subdivision, starting at mile post 0 and ending at mile post 4.0
  • Parc Subdivision, starting at mile post 16.0 and ending at mile post 22.0

Track maintenance is an integral part of CP’s safety program. Our significant investments in railway infrastructure help ensure trains operate safely through communities. This work could impact residents in the municipalities and boroughs of Montreal West, Westmount, Lachine, Montreal, Outremont, Laval, Rosemere and Sainte-Thérèse.

Expected Duration: On March 12th, crews will be working on the rail within these corridors. This work must take place during the evening hours, between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., in order to avoid impacts to RTM commuters during the day.Residents can expect to see or hear heavy machinery noise, banging, idling trucks waiting to proceed, dust, voices, and reversing trucks. We expect this work will be completed by March 22nd, 2018 although this is subject to change.
